This all started as a desperate attempt to reach two loved ones—begging them to hear me, to see the changes I knew they were capable of. But as I kept writing, I realized this isn’t just about them. It’s about all of us. Because, let’s be real, who hasn’t been stuck in their own mess, refusing to see a way out? I was exhausted from trying to help and being met with deaf ears, frustrated by the emotional rollercoaster it put me on. But the hard truth? People don’t change for anyone but themselves. They have to want it. And I, of all people, should know that better than anyone—after all, I didn’t listen until I was ready. But even knowing that, I still had to say it. Because if I didn’t, I might just explode from sheer frustration.
We need to talk. Because I am this close to losing my mind watching people—especially people I care about—stay stuck in the same cycle, making the same bad choices, and then acting shocked when nothing changes. It’s like watching a horror movie where the main character insists on investigating the creepy noise in the basement. DON’T GO IN THE BASEMENT, KAREN.
But here we are. Stuck in the mud. Again.
Quick Fixes: The Toxic Ex You Keep Going Back To
Look, I get it. Quick fixes feel amazing in the moment. A little dopamine hit here, a distraction there, and BAM—you don’t have to deal with whatever’s actually going on. But here’s the problem: Quick fixes are the emotional equivalent of putting duct tape on a sinking ship. It might hold for a second, but eventually, you’re going under.

Need proof? Let’s talk about every bad decision ever made in a movie:
Jaws (1975) – “Hey, let’s ignore the giant man-eating shark and just throw some chum in the water.”
Jurassic Park (1993) – “Let’s bring dinosaurs back to life; what could possibly go wrong?”
Literally any horror movie ever – “Splitting up is definitely the best idea!”
You see where I’m going with this? Band-aid solutions only delay the inevitable—and usually make things worse.
