Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 cup sugar-free ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- Optional:
- Green peppers, finely chopped
- Carrots, finely chopped
- Onions, finely chopped
- Butternut squash, finely chopped
Instructions:
1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
2. If using optional ingredients, add the finely chopped green peppers, carrots, onions, and butternut squash to the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
3. Stir in the sugar-free ketchup, brown sugar, and water until well combined.
4. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken.
5. Once the sloppy joe mixture has simmered and thickened, serve it hot on your favorite bun.
6. Enjoy your delicious homemade sloppy joes with your freshly baked buns!
