Ingredients:
- Flour tortillas (you can use corn tortillas if you prefer)
- Shredded cheese (such as cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a Mexican blend)
- Optional: Cooked meat (such as shredded chicken, cooked ground beef, or cooked steak slices)
- Optional: Sliced vegetables (such as bell peppers, onions, or tomatoes)
- Optional: Sliced jalapeños or other hot peppers
- Optional: Black beans or refried beans
- Optional: Sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or your favorite dipping sauce
Instructions:
1. If you're using meat, make sure it's cooked and seasoned to your liking. Shred or slice it thinly for easier melting inside the quesadilla.
2. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
3. Place one tortilla in the skillet. If you're using meat, spread a layer of it evenly over the tortilla. If not, you can skip this step.
4. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheese over the meat or directly onto the tortilla if you're not using meat.
5. Add any additional toppings you desire, such as vegetables, beans, or jalapeños.
6. Place another tortilla on top to cover the filling, creating a quesadilla "sandwich."
7. Cook the quesadilla for a few minutes on one side until it starts to brown and the cheese begins to melt.
8. Carefully flip the quesadilla using a spatula and cook for a few more minutes on the other side until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
9. Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and let it cool for a minute or two before cutting it into wedges.
10. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces such as salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.
Enjoy your delicious homemade quesadillas, whether you've made them with meat or without!
